About Dr. Candice Matthews

The Honorary doctorate degrees have high requirements, and Dr. Candice Matthews Statewide Vice Chair has met them. Honorary doctorates are often seen as the highest form of recognition a university can give. However, an honorary Doctorate of Humanity is given to people like Dr. Matthews, who have made great contributions to society.

She has helped people and done good things for society by being a part of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, a project to protect voters, and the Rainbow Push Coalition. This last group was started by Jesse Jackson and is now a non-profit based in Chicago. It was made when Operation PUSH and the National Rainbow Coalition joined together.

The Rainbow Push Coalition is a multi-racial, multi-issue group that "seeks to protect, defend, and gain civil rights by leveling the economic and educational playing fields, and to promote peace and justice around the world."

Dr. Candice Matthews Statewide Vice Chair is from Houston, Texas. She went to Macedonia Bible College, where she got a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a Master of Arts in Christian Education, and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Development. Also, Dr. Matthews earned an honorary doctorate in humanities from Esteem Bible University and is the Chairwoman of the Board of Regents for Esteem Christian Bible University. Dr. Matthews is getting her MBA from the Mays College of Business at Texas A&M University.
